To some this might be old news, to many this might be something new. Today I wanted to blog about an artist I love to listen to, and every time I hear her music I am more impressed than the last time I heard her. I also wanted to talk about this artist because it shows the reach of Hip Hop and how it can touch people from all over the world. Today I introduce, or maybe re-introduce to you Miri Ben-Ari!

Miri Ben-Ari, is a Grammy Award-Winning violinist originally from Israel, that has created her own unique sound by a revolutionary fusion of classical style with jazz, R&B and hip hop.

This classically trained musician has helped sell millions of records by collaborating with other Grammy award-winning artists such as Kanye West, Jay Z, Wyclef Jean, Alicia Keys, Wynton Marsalis, Britney Spears, Maroon 5, Patti Labelle, Brandy, Donna Summer, Janet Jackson and John Legend. In fact it was Kanye West who hired Ben-Ari to write, produce, arrange, and perform all of the strings on his smash debut album, The College Dropout. The team also worked on Twista’s hit single “Overnight Celebrity” and its accompanying video, which gave Ben-Ari plenty of face time on BET and MTV. She also grabbed a feature spot on tour with Kanye West and her appearances on BET’s 106 & Park and Rap City had audiences talking about this new hip-hop star.

In 2006, her single “Symphony of Brotherhood”, featuring the Dream speech of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, was the first instrumental single ever to hit on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop charts, MTV and VH1.

Today Miri Ben-Ari is the CEO and co-founder of “Gedenk” (“Remember” in Yiddish), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness among young people about the Jewish Holocaust.
